On October 23, Elon Musk posted a series of messages on X targeting Texas Democratic Senate nominee James Talarico. Musk wrote: “Talarico will vote to take away your kids and transition them.” He also said “Talarico wants to trans your kids and destroy the border” and “Talarico hates Texas.”

In one post, Musk quoted Talarico saying, “With every border wall, with every bathroom bill, we degrade our reputation and we dishonor our legacy.” He noted that Talarico had voted against border security measures multiple times. In another, he highlighted Talarico’s past comments supporting transgender children.

The same day, Musk also addressed the Ukraine war. He wrote that elites have grown rich from the hundreds of billions flowing to Ukraine, while ordinary people’s children are conscripted to die in trenches. He added that some of that U.S. taxpayer money comes back through multiple channels to fund political campaigns in America, which is why some politicians care more about Ukraine than America.

These posts come days after reports that Democrats are preparing to investigate Musk if they win control of Congress in the midterms. Targets include his work leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), his companies’ government contracts, and decisions related to Starlink in Ukraine. On October 21, Musk responded directly: “Live by the sword, die by the sword. Those who pick fights with me should understand that I will find out who is really pulling the strings and come for them, not just their puppets.”

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis also warned Democrats. He said that if Democrats regain control of Congress and immediately return to lawfare against Musk, it will backfire and remind voters why they did not like the Democrats when they were in power. President Trump has publicly stood up for Musk, saying: “Elon’s done nothing wrong. Elon is a very good guy.”
