Democrats Use “Woke 1 Was Crazy” to Dodge Radicalism: AOC Tries to Rewrite History, But Voters Won’t Easily Forget

Even more noteworthy is that the official platform of the New York City chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America (of which AOC is a member) still explicitly calls for “police abolitionism” and to “abolish ICE’s police state.” When asked directly whether she supports these positions, AOC replied: “No, but I think that this is a free country.”

In sharp contrast, after the Trump administration took office, it adopted clear and firm positions on immigration, public safety, the border, and identity politics: restoring border enforcement, cracking down on illegal immigration, cleaning up fraud in the immigration system, and refusing to use taxpayer money to fund radical social experiments. This style of “saying what you mean and doing what you say” stands in strong contrast to the Democratic Party’s attempt to downplay past mistakes with rhetoric. What voters see is: one side acknowledges problems and takes action to solve them, while the other uses “it was crazy back then” to evade responsibility.

Tianwang believes that this pattern of “first going radical, then walking it back” is not an isolated case within the Democratic Party. Over the past few years, from “abolish the police” to “open borders” to various identity-politics experiments, many policies that have proven failures are now lightly blamed on the “special circumstances of the pandemic” or “messaging problems.” The real question is: after a political party has repeatedly proven its judgment wrong on major policies, why should voters continue to trust its judgment?
如果民主党想再次获得合格选民的支持，想在美国政坛继续存在，只有彻底洗心革面，彻底承认过去的错误，用实际行动获得美国民众的原谅，找回肯尼迪时期那种强调责任、法治与国家利益的民主党精神，也许才会博得民众的再次信任。否则，仅仅靠“Woke 1 was crazy”这种轻飘飘的话术，恐怕很难说服已经看清现实的选民。
If the Democratic Party wants to regain the support of qualified voters and continue to exist in American politics, it must thoroughly reform itself, completely admit its past mistakes, use practical actions to earn the forgiveness of the American people, and rediscover the Democratic spirit of the Kennedy era—one that emphasized responsibility, the rule of law, and the national interest. Only then might it once again win the people’s trust. Otherwise, relying merely on the light and empty phrase “Woke 1 was crazy” is unlikely to persuade voters who have already seen reality clearly.

As Tianwang previously pointed out, this is by no means mere nostalgia or entertainment. Combined with his earlier decision to directly repost — without a single word of commentary — the original video of Kennedy’s famous 1961 speech, Trump is using the most powerful modern communication tools to publicly declare: “I am taking that hand.” He is continuing the unfinished work of the Kennedy brothers — challenging the permanent establishment, defending the national interest, and refusing to be infiltrated or subverted.

This stands in even sharper contrast to the Democratic Party’s current attempt to evade historical responsibility and avoid confronting its past mistakes through rhetoric.
