On August 14 local time, around 3 p.m. Eastern Time, U.S. President Donald Trump was delivering a “law and order” speech at the Nassau County Police Academy on Long Island, New York, when he suddenly paused, left the podium, and embraced a pair of tearful parents.

Their 12-year-old son, Jacob Freytes, was killed last month by a stray bullet while riding his bike outside a bodega in the Bronx during a gun battle.

President Trump said during the speech:
“Two weeks ago, a 12-year-old boy named Jacob Freytes — You read about this one? — was tragically shot and killed by a stray bullet fired by a repeat offender in a gun battle. Jacob was the son of a loving mom and a retired New York City police detective, and they are incredible people, and I think I heard that they may be with us today.”
当确认父母在观众席后，川普总统立即离开讲台，走到母亲Migdalia Martinez和父亲、退休纽约市警Jesus Freytes面前，拥抱并安慰了他们。
After confirming the parents were in the audience, Trump walked off the podium and approached mother Migdalia Martinez and father, retired NYPD officer Jesus Freytes, embracing and comforting them.
回到讲台后，川普总统情绪激动地说：

Returning to the podium, Trump said emotionally:
“Incredible. Horrible story. What a horrible thing… But we’re going after them. These are bad, sick people.”

According to New York police, the suspected shooter is 45-year-old William Ferrer, who has a criminal record spanning at least 25 years, including drunk driving, drug possession, menacing, and criminal contempt. He has been charged with second-degree murder and other counts and has pleaded not guilty.
Jacob的死也促使纽约州共和党议员提出“Jacob’s Law”，要求对因鲁莽行为导致儿童死亡的罪犯加重刑罚。
Jacob’s death has also prompted New York Republican lawmakers to introduce “Jacob’s Law,” which would impose stricter sentences on criminals whose reckless actions result in the death of a child.

一个大国总统，在正式演讲中途突然离开讲台，当面拥抱被流弹夺去儿子生命的母亲，并公开承诺“我们会追究这些人”——这在正常国家是基本的人性与责任，在中共国却是不可想象的事。
A president of a major country, in the middle of a formal speech, suddenly leaves the podium, embraces the mother of a boy killed by a stray bullet, and publicly promises, “We’re going after them.” In a normal country, this is basic humanity and responsibility. Under the CCP, it is unimaginable.
中共的领导干部，只会向上溜须拍马，向下耀武扬威；对百姓横征暴敛，对受害者家属冷漠无情。国家主席更不会真正关心百姓死活，只会在镜头前作秀，维持“社会和谐”的假象，却绝不会为普通受害者伸张正义。
CCP officials only know how to flatter those above them and intimidate those below. They exploit the people and show cold indifference to the families of victims. The country’s top leader will never truly care about the lives of ordinary citizens. He only performs for the cameras, maintaining the false appearance of “social harmony,” while never seeking justice for ordinary victims.
天网义工王晶的姐姐，十九岁时在中国石油石化公司染料厂上夜班，被多名歹徒乱刀砍死。工厂不报警，销毁尸首，领导逃避责任；警察不认真追查，甚至弄丢命案卷宗，至今仍是悬案。一个十九岁女孩的命，就这样被工厂、警察和整个体制合谋抹掉。受害者家属连一个像样的交代都得不到。
The sister of Tianwang volunteer Wang Jing was only 19 years old when she was hacked to death by multiple attackers while working the night shift at the China Petroleum and Petrochemical Company Dyestuff Factory. The factory did not report the crime, destroyed the body, and its leaders all evaded responsibility. The police failed to investigate seriously and even lost the case files. To this day, it remains an unsolved case. The life of a 19-year-old girl was simply erased through the collusion of the factory, the police, and the entire system. The victim’s family never received even a proper explanation.
而王晶只因坚持为姐姐伸冤，就被当局送进了监狱。
And Wang Jing herself was later sent to prison simply because she persisted in seeking justice for her sister.
这就是中共国的现实：普通百姓的死可以轻易被掩盖，人命在权力和利益面前一文不值；连为亲人讨公道的人，也会被直接打成犯人。
This is the reality of CCP China: the deaths of ordinary people can be easily covered up; human lives are worthless in the face of power and interest; and anyone who dares to demand justice for a loved one can be turned into a criminal.
真正的领导人敢于直面悲剧、安慰伤痛、追究凶手；中共体制下的“领导人”只会掩盖真相、打压声音、保护权贵。
True leaders confront tragedy, comfort the grieving, and pursue the perpetrators. Leaders under the CCP system only cover up the truth, suppress voices, and protect the powerful.
如果美国人选择倾向社会主义的道路，最后的结局就是这样的凄惨。
If Americans choose the path of leaning toward socialism, this kind of misery will be the final outcome.
这就是自由社会与专制社会最直观的区别。
This is the most direct difference between a free society and an authoritarian one.
