Vance: Canada Restricts American Workers, Goes Easy on China — Carney Should Cut the Talk

At 10:27 a.m. Pacific on September 14, Eric Daugherty posted Vice President Vance on video. Vance said Canada piles tariffs and export-import controls on American workers, while goods from the People’s Republic of China face nothing like that level of restriction. What the President is doing is not an effort to hurt anybody — not in the United States, not even in Canada. It is to make things fair. Daugherty named Prime Minister Carney: an ally and a neighbor treating the CCP better than America. Cut the talk.

Vance made the same point earlier in Maine: Canadian duties on Maine farm goods can run extremely high, while Chinese goods can move through Canada into North America. Carney visited Beijing earlier this year and discussed cutting tariffs on Chinese EVs. U.S.-Canada talks have neared a deal and then broken off. The Trump administration has already raised duties on Canadian steel, aluminum and autos, and wants the back door into the U.S. market closed first. A closing line in Daugherty’s post is his own comment, not a White House statement, and is not treated here as policy.

A neighbor may use American airports, stores and grids. It may not use American workers as a doormat. Restrict U.S. goods and open the door to the CCP, and that is not free trade. It is picking a side. President Trump asked for reciprocity: if you want the U.S. market, do not give Beijing the easier gate. Carney can talk about pivoting to prosper. American workers can read whose name is on the bill. Only if an ally is kept apart from a corridor does the table still deserve both chairs.
