Many covered their faces with masks. Sortor called it dystopian. Not one person would talk to him. Another post, seen about 649,000 times, quoted someone inside a hotel. “They came ready to make trouble. Be prepared. I heard fights had already started today. The people in the lobby were bulky. They looked like CCP public-security men. Many were from Fujian. China Times reported on September 24 that across the street people held PRC flags and banners that said “warm welcome.” A man who said he came from New York told the paper the consulate had arranged it. 《中时新闻网》9月24日报道，马路对面有人举五星旗，拉“热烈欢迎”的横幅。一名自称从纽约来的男子对记者说，是总领事馆安排来的。
Nikkei Asia reported the same day that hometown groups and student organizations ran buses to the Waldorf Astoria, the hotel where Xi is staying. 《日经亚洲》同一天报道，同乡会和学生组织派大巴，把人送到习近平下榻的华尔道夫酒店门外。
Phayul reported that on September 23 the pro-China crowd blocked Tibetan flags with PRC flags and pushed Tibetan protesters. The two street records and these reports show one method. The consulate, the hometown groups, and the student organizations deliver the people. The hats and the masks match.
