Democrats won majorities in both the U.S. House and Senate in the November 3 midterm elections and will take control of Congress in January 2027. Counting continues in a number of races, and several results face legal challenges.

In the Senate, Democrats hold at least 54 seats, including two independents, compared with 44 for Republicans. Democrats flipped seven Republican-held seats: Texas, South Carolina, Kansas, Iowa, Ohio, Maine and North Carolina. The races in Alaska and Mississippi remain undecided.

In the House, Democrats are projected to win between about 230 and 259 seats, well above the 218 needed for a majority. Fourteen Republican incumbents lost re-election. House Speaker Mike Johnson said he will not remain Republican leader in the new Congress. Democrats also flipped governor’s offices in Texas, Georgia, Nevada, Ohio and Iowa.

In Alaska, the Justice Department alleges that Democrat Mary Peltola’s campaign helped recruit a retired teacher named Daniel J. Sullivan to run against Republican Senator Dan Sullivan in order to split his vote. The department sued to halt certification if Sullivan narrowly loses. A federal judge dismissed the suit on November 1, and the department has appealed. Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy has called for a state investigation.

In Texas, the Potter County Republican Party and a voter filed a federal lawsuit seeking a statewide hand count of paper ballots before results are certified, arguing that existing audits cannot detect hacking or AI-driven tampering of voting machines.

In California, the Justice Department sought to set aside about 20,000 mail-in ballots from voters it suspects are non-citizens. Federal courts rejected the request, and the Supreme Court denied an emergency application. In Washington State, two U.S. Attorney’s offices asked the state to set aside ballots from more than 400 people they allege were illegally registered.

64Tianwang Commentary: This result is deeply disappointing to many conservatives and Christians. With unresolved disputes over suspected non-citizen ballots, a possible “spoiler” candidate in Alaska, and unanswered questions about the security of voting machines, many voters have reason to question whether this election truly reflects the will of the American people. These challenges deserve a full and transparent review before the results are certified.
天网评论：这一结果令许多保守派人士和基督徒深感沮丧。涉嫌非公民投票的争议、阿拉斯加可能存在的”搅局”候选人，以及投票机安全性的疑问都尚未解决，许多选民有理由质疑这次选举是否真正反映了美国人民的意愿。在结果认证之前，这些质疑理应得到全面、透明的审查。
