On election day, President Trump posted multiple messages on Truth Social calling on voters in different states to turn out. He endorsed Republican candidates in Alaska, Iowa, South Dakota, and other states. Each post urged residents to vote for the named candidates and linked to voting information.

Elon Musk also posted and reposted messages on X the same day, including calls for voters in Texas to support Republican candidates.

The day before the election, in an interview on the “Pod Force One” podcast with Miranda Devine, President Trump said that if Democrats take control of Congress and pursue investigations against Musk or others who worked with his administration, he would move to protect them. He said he would consider preemptive pardons if needed. “I would if I needed to. Sure. I would not even think about it. I’d do it,” he told the host.

Democrats have said that if they win the House, they plan to investigate Musk. Potential subjects include his work leading the Department of Government Efficiency, government contracts held by his companies, and decisions related to Starlink access for Ukraine. Musk has previously said that those who pick fights with him should understand he will respond.

On the same day, the U.S. Supreme Court rejected the Trump administration’s emergency request to require California to set aside about 20,000 mail ballots. The voters who cast them had been flagged by the federal government as possible noncitizens.

Solicitor General John Sauer had warned the justices: “Once California commingles the challenged ballots with lawful ones, there is no way to get the challenged ballots back.” Before the Supreme Court, a federal district judge, a divided Ninth Circuit, and Judge Boasberg had also refused to act.

With the ruling, the ballots will be counted together with all others on Election Day. If any of those voters are later found to be noncitizens, their votes can no longer be separated out.
