President Trump Honors 16-Year-Old Lifeguard at the White House: Promoting Courage and Duty

8月17日，美国总统川普在白宫椭圆形办公室亲自接见并表彰了16岁的救生员Ryder Williams。
On August 17, U.S. President Trump personally met and honored 16-year-old lifeguard Ryder Williams in the Oval Office of the White House.
今年7月25日，Ryder在加州圣克鲁斯海滩执勤时，发现10岁男孩Nathaniel Rai被大浪卷走。他不顾自身安危冲入海中，死死抱住男孩，在连续被大浪拍打、多次没入水中的情况下，始终没有松手，最终在另一名救生员协助下将男孩救上岸。救援视频在网上广泛传播，感动了无数人。
On July 25 of this year, while on duty at a beach in Santa Cruz, California, Ryder spotted 10-year-old Nathaniel Rai being swept away by a large wave. He rushed into the water without regard for his own safety, held the boy tightly, and refused to let go even as successive waves crashed over them and submerged them multiple times. With the help of another lifeguard, he eventually brought the boy safely ashore. The rescue video spread widely online and moved countless people.
川普总统看到视频后，专门邀请Ryder和被救男孩及其家人来到白宫。他当面称赞Ryder是“真正的英雄”，并表示“你做的事太了不起了，所有人都看到了”。
After seeing the video, President Trump specially invited Ryder, the rescued boy, and their families to the White House. He praised Ryder face-to-face as a “real hero” and said, “What you did was incredible, and everybody saw it.”

We are grateful that America has such a president who promotes good and punishes evil. When a young person does a good deed, he can receive a personal meeting and public recognition from the nation’s highest leader. This allows justice to be highlighted and shows more people that doing good is respected.

President Trump’s recognition of this lifeguard not only praises his bravery and selflessness in the rescue, but also affirms a worker’s professional integrity. He discovered the danger while on duty and immediately rushed in to save the boy. By publicly honoring such a responsible employee, it also encourages more people to do their jobs well and to take responsibility.

In contrast, under the rule of the Chinese Communist Party, the situation is exactly the opposite. Good deeds often go unrecognized and may even be suppressed, while evil people frequently go unpunished and become even more emboldened.
义工王晶的亲身经历就是血的例证。王晶的二姐，是被父亲的仇家在工厂众目睽睽之下残忍杀害的。当年父亲帮助公安机关作证，指证一起命案。凶手原本已经认罪，但因为凶手是厂党委书记的儿子，书记通过关系让警察把儿子放回家。这对父子怀恨王晶父亲做了证人，最终残忍杀害了王晶的二姐，作为报复。
Volunteer Wang Jing’s personal experience is a bloody example. Wang Jing’s second sister was brutally murdered by her father’s enemies in full view of people at the factory. Years earlier, their father had helped the public security authorities by testifying in a murder case. The killers had already confessed, but because the perpetrator was the son of the factory Party secretary, the secretary used his connections to have the police release his son. The father and son held a grudge against Wang Jing’s father for testifying, and ultimately murdered Wang Jing’s second sister in revenge.

Even more heartbreaking is that when Wang Jing’s second sister was murdered, many people in the factory clearly saw it with their own eyes, yet afterward not a single person dared to come forward to testify for the family. Because they had witnessed the retaliation suffered by Wang Jing’s father after he testified, everyone was afraid, and no one dared to speak the truth. Wang Jing’s second sister’s death was also the result of the factory security’s failure to do their duty and the workers’ indifference to the lives of others.
在中共体制下，权力凌驾于法律之上，普通百姓伸张正义难如登天，真相更被层层掩盖。而在美国，总统公开表彰英雄，并把他们请进白宫，这不仅让英雄得到应有的荣誉，更能产生强大的正面社会示范：让更多的人，尤其是青少年，敢于伸张正义，明白把职责看得比自己生命更加重要的宝贵精神。中共体制却恰恰相反——它让好人不敢说实话，甚至纵容恶人、助长邪恶。
Under the CCP system, power overrides the law. For ordinary people, seeking justice is as difficult as climbing to heaven, and the truth is covered up layer by layer. In the United States, however, the president publicly honors heroes and invites them into the White House. This not only gives heroes the recognition they deserve, but also creates a powerful positive social example: encouraging more people, especially young people, to dare to uphold justice and to understand the precious spirit of valuing duty more than one’s own life. The CCP system is the exact opposite — it makes good people afraid to speak the truth, and even tolerates and encourages evil.
