At about 4:20 a.m. Pacific Time on Tuesday, September 1, President Donald J. Trump shared a Just the News report titled: “Cheaper drugs, cheaper beef, cheaper gas. Trump lines up fall affordability before Labor Day.” The story said lower prices put Republicans in a better position for the November midterms. Labor Day is Monday, September 7.

Beef. An August 21 proclamation temporarily expands the lower-tariff lean-beef quota by 300,000 metric tons for 90 days from September 1, aimed at ground beef at a claimed 25% discount. Critics say the extra quota is likely filled largely by imports such as Brazil.

Gas. The national average for regular gasoline slipped about 3 cents over the prior week, to about $4.01–$4.08 a gallon. The same day he posted separately that he would meet refiners to expand capacity.

He called North Carolina a great state; after Hurricane Helene, he said, “Sleepy Joe turned his back,” while he “got everything done in record time.” He said he won the state big three times and “NEVER forgot North Carolina.” He thanked Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. He closed: America is “THE WORLD’S BIGGEST AND BEST ECONOMY”; others should cut taxes and regulations and, where possible, “DRILL BABY DRILL.” “GROWTH, GROWTH, GROWTH.”
