On September 29, President Trump posted a video on Truth Social and called it “from a great journalist.” The clip walks through a Fox News poll from September 2026: only 4% of registered voters name Iran or war as the country’s most important issue. Critics, the clip says, treat that number as proof voters reject the action, or that Trump got the decision wrong. The clip calls that reading upside down. “This actually helps the Trump administration.”

The poll itself is not in dispute. Fox surveyed 1,211 registered voters from September 11 to 14. Asked in their own words for the most important issue, 34% said the cost of living. 4% said Iran or war. 1% said foreign policy in general. Living costs sit at the top. Iran does not.
民调本身没有争议。福克斯9月11日至14日调查了1211名登记选民。用自己的话回答最重要问题时，34%说生活成本，4%说伊朗或战争，1%说一般外交。生活成本在最上面。伊朗不在最上面。
The clip then asks the question the poll does not ask: what if he had not acted? What if he had done what presidents before him did — leave the file for the next person, leave it for his children? Then, the argument goes, something like 98% would see this war as the top issue. They would see Iran as the top threat. They do not have to. “Because Trump acted. He eliminated the threat.”
片子接着问民调没问的那句：如果他没动手呢？如果他像前任那样，把卷宗留给下一个人、留给自己的孩子呢？按这个逻辑，大概会有98%把这场战争列为头号问题。他们会把伊朗看成头号威胁。他们现在不必。“因为川普动手了。他消除了威胁。”
The same clip says Iran was days away from being able to build a nuclear weapon; that the regime killed tens of thousands of its own people with guns; and that a nuclear Iran would not be a file for the next president — it would be a threat to America. “If he hadn’t gotten rid of the threat, people in America would be living in fear right now from a nuclear attack.” The low number, in this reading, is the receipt: Americans do not have to keep Iran at the top of the worry list because the work was done.

That line matches what President Trump said at the United Nations: he has no interest in leaving dangers to grow for another day. He does not believe in letting problems fester. They only become harder to solve. While others have talked, he has acted. While others have spoken of peace, he has made peace. While others have ignored threats, he has confronted them.

A president’s job, the clip says, is to take care of this so everyday Americans do not stay awake at night thinking about what Iran would do with a bomb. The 4% is offered as evidence for the action that removed the threat — not evidence that the action should never have occurred.

The same Fox survey also records other numbers in the same document: 60% call the military decision wrong; 71% say there is no clear plan to end the war; 47% say the conflict will make America less safe in the long run, up from 39% in April; overall approval 39%, disapproval 61%. Those figures are in the poll. They measure something different from “what keeps you up at night first.” Cost of living still leads. Iran is not the kitchen-table first sentence. That is the 4%.

Do not let a kitchen-table ranking be rewritten as a verdict on whether a nuclear file should have been left on the desk. “Most important issue” is what voters name first when they have one slot. Most people name the bill at the store. That does not mean they want a nuclear program left for the next child.
不要把一张餐桌上的排行改写成判决书——核档案该不该留在桌上。“最重要的问题”是选民只有一个空格时先写哪一句。多数人先写店里的账单。这不等于他们希望核计划留给下一个孩子。
President Trump’s standard is the one he said out loud: do not leave dangers to grow for another day. The 4% can be read that way — the threat is no longer the first thing on the list because someone moved on it. The other numbers in the same poll measure fatigue, cost, and whether people see an end. Those are real. They are not the same sentence as “he should never have acted.”
川普总统的标准是他亲口说的：不要把危险留给明天去长大。4%可以这样读——威胁不再是清单上的第一项，因为有人动手了。同一份民调里的其他数字量的是疲倦、代价、以及人们看不看得完。那些是真的。它们不是“他根本不该动手”那一句。
A country that waits for every threat to become the top issue before it acts will always act late. The job is to take the file off the night table so citizens can sleep. Whether the war is finished is one question. Whether leaving the file would have been safer is another. The 4% speaks to the second question more than the first.
一个国家如果等每个威胁都变成头号问题才动手，就永远动手太晚。工作是把卷宗从床头拿开，好让公民能睡。战争结束了没有，是一个问题。把卷宗留下会不会更安全，是另一个问题。4%说的是第二问，多于第一问。
