From late night into morning Pacific Time on September 28, President Trump posted two Just the News stories on Truth Social. One was about local prosecutors. One was about the Supreme Court. Read together they ask two questions: is the name on the roll a citizen, and does the same crime draw the same charge.

1. Two-tier justice: status first, then the charge

The story rests on a House Judiciary Committee report this week. It named Northern Virginia, Colorado, Philadelphia. Prosecutors weigh status before charges and pleas. Same town, same offense, two records.

2. The Court: SAVE citizenship checks resume for now

Friday’s emergency order paused a lower-court block on the expanded SAVE database. States may again use it to ask if a registered voter is a citizen. Three liberal justices dissented. This is not a final ruling. Federal law still bars systematic roll purges within 90 days of an election. Before November 3 the tool is mainly for individual checks; broader maintenance comes after the midterms. Officials say large numbers have been verified and tens of thousands flagged as possible noncitizens. Those flags are not deletions. CISA also urged paper ballots, post-election hand audits, and tighter machine rules.

3. Why the two posts are one story

If the roll is loose, people without status can reach a voting booth. If the charge is loose, people without status can commit a crime and stay. One scale, two rooms: the election and the street. He pinned both stories to the same morning so the reader would see the scale come back: first who you are, then what you did.

The first sentence of the law should be one crime, one scale. Changing the charge after reading the passport puts citizens at the front door and people without status at the side door. Open that door and DWI and the next offense find the same gap. A prosecutor charges the crime. A prosecutor does not discount immigration law.
法律的第一句话应是同一条罪、同一把尺。先问身份再改罪名，等于公民走前门，没有身份的人走侧门。侧门一开，酒驾和再犯都会找到同一条缝。检察官的职责是起诉犯罪，不是替移民法打折。
The Court letting the checks resume is not a midterm purge. It returns one basic sentence: the person who votes should be a citizen of this country. The 90-day bar still holds. The merits are not finished. What can be done now is individual checks, paper ballots, and a hand count after. Machines are not a black box. The roll is not a list that refuses to name who is on it.
最高法院先让核查用起来，不是把期中选举改成一场大清洗，是把一句最基本的话还回去：投票的人应当是这个国家的公民。90天的限制还在，终审还没下。能做的是个案核、纸质票、选后抽查。机器不能当黑箱。名册不能当不认人的名单。
