President Trump has repeatedly said he wants to end the war in Ukraine and reach energy and trade deals with Russia. The goal is not charity. It is American interest.

Economically, importing Russian oil increases supply and puts downward pressure on prices. Lower energy costs help American families and businesses. Under the previous administration, the United States paid high prices at home while Europe continued buying Russian energy and American taxpayers funded Ukraine’s war.

Politically, the deal gives Russia an alternative customer. Since the invasion of Ukraine, China has supplied roughly 40% of Russia’s imports, while Russia accounts for only about 4% of China’s global trade. Russia depends on China far more than China depends on Russia. An American energy deal reduces Moscow’s need to lean entirely on Beijing.

President Trump has said he does not want to see Russia and China locked together. A deal that lowers American energy prices and loosens Russia’s economic dependence on China serves both purposes at once. It is not a gift to Moscow. It is a transaction that works for the United States.
川普总统说过，他不希望看到俄罗斯和中国绑在一起。一笔既能降低美国能源价格、又能松动俄罗斯对中国经济依赖的交易，同时服务于这两个目标。这不是送给莫斯科的礼物，而是一笔对美国有利的交易。
