According to the U.S. Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security, 33-year-old Chinese national Yupeng Sun was arrested on August 19 in Andover, Massachusetts, and charged with two federal counts: fraudulent voter registration and fraudulent voting.

• 2024年10月10日，他冒用另一名中国籍绿卡持有人的身份，在马萨诸塞州官网完成在线选民登记。
• On October 10, 2024, he submitted an online voter registration in Massachusetts while impersonating another Chinese national who was a legal permanent resident (green card holder).
• 2024年10月31日，他再次冒用该人身份，在马尔登市政厅投出2024年总统选举的提前选票，该选票被正式接受。
• On October 31, 2024, he again impersonated the same person and cast an early voting ballot for the 2024 presidential election at Malden City Hall. The ballot was accepted.
• 更早的2024年4月，他还冒用该绿卡持有人及其妻子的名义，向移民局提交虚假表格，申请“放弃绿卡身份”，导致这对夫妇从国外返回时绿卡被没收，并进入遣返程序。
• Earlier, in April 2024, he also submitted fraudulent forms to USCIS in the names of the green card holder and his wife, requesting to abandon their permanent resident status. As a result, the couple had their green cards confiscated and were placed in removal proceedings upon returning from an international trip.
• 2026年4月至5月，他又匿名向联邦机构举报，称该绿卡持有人“非法投票”。
• In April and May 2026, he anonymously reported the victim to federal agencies, claiming the green card holder had “illegally voted.”

The two had previously been roommates and had a dispute. Available evidence indicates the actions were driven by personal revenge. Under U.S. law, green card holders do not have the right to vote; only U.S. citizens are eligible to vote in federal elections.
孙宇鹏目前面临每项罪名最高5年监禁。官方明确表示，他在服完刑期后将被驱逐出境。
Sun faces up to five years in prison on each count. Officials have stated that he will be deported after serving any sentence imposed.
