Chinese Entities Gave Iran Satellite Images of Jordan U.S. Base Before Strike That Killed Three Troops

Fox News today amplified a Wall Street Journal investigation: U.S. officials say that before Iran’s July 17 ballistic-missile strike on Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in northeastern Jordan (also called Al Azraq), Tehran obtained high-resolution satellite images of the base from Chinese entities, and kept obtaining them afterward to assess damage. Washington tied the imagery to the attack and called it the clearest evidence yet that support for Iran has had lethal results for U.S. forces. Officials did not name the firms and did not accuse Beijing of firing the missiles.

The missiles hit a housing area. Three soldiers were killed: 1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan, 25, of Ewa Beach, Hawaii; Pfc. Isabella Gonzales, 19, of Carrollton, Texas; and Sgt. Angel S. Rampersad, 28, of Ozone Park, New York. Four others were wounded and evacuated. It was the first U.S. combat deaths after the April ceasefire. Within three days Iran released high-resolution damage photos of three parts of the base, finer than public commercial imagery at the time.

In May the Trump administration sanctioned three Chinese firms — MizarVision, Earth Eye and Chang Guang — for providing, collecting or publishing imagery Iran could use against U.S. forces. The State Department last year also named Chang Guang in imagery support for Iran-backed Houthis. U.S. officials raised the issue with Beijing; China asked for proof and would not admit that companies were helping Iran. Fox quoted President Trump: “They basically do what we do.” “We spy on them, too.” Xi Jinping is due in Washington on September 24 to meet President Trump.

导弹是伊朗打的，图是中国实体给的。北京可以不承认“下令开炮”，却不能把商业卫星、地面站和制裁名单上的公司说成与政权无关的路边摊。宿舍区不是抽象像素，是三名美国军人睡觉的地方。把高清图交给正在打美军的政权，就是把坐标交出去。5月已经制裁，7月照打，说明警告没有管住通道。
Iran fired the missiles. Chinese entities supplied the pictures. Beijing can deny that it “ordered the launch.” It cannot treat commercial satellites, ground stations and firms already on a sanctions list as roadside stalls with no link to the regime. A housing area is not an abstract pixel. It is where three American soldiers were sleeping. Hand high-resolution images to a government shooting at U.S. troops, and you hand over coordinates. Sanctions in May, a strike in July: the warning did not close the channel.

President Trump said both sides spy. That does not write off feeding targeting pictures to a warring state that hits a U.S. barracks. The September 24 meeting puts the ledger on the table: who gave Iran eyes, and who buried Americans. Only if “commercial remote sensing” is kept apart from “wartime aiming” does this business deserve to be called neutral. If the CCP wants peace, stop the pictures to Iran first.
