Trump Shares Farmer’s Video: How Are White South Africans Doing in America?

On the afternoon of September 16, President Trump forwarded on Truth Social a selfie video by Afrikaner farmer Jason Bartlett. The clip runs about two minutes and forty seconds. The only line on the post is: How are the white South Africans doing in America?

Bartlett speaks in a Cornerstone Farm cap on a lawn. He once walked across the United States to talk about farm attacks in South Africa, then entered through the refugee path the Trump administration opened for Afrikaners and other minorities. In this clip and in earlier remarks he says he can go out, work and worship without being hated for his skin, and thanks the President for closing the border while leaving a legal door for people who came to work.

The policy can be checked. In February 2025 President Trump signed an order that, while refugee admissions were largely shut for others, opened a path for South African minorities. State Department figures already count arrivals in the thousands to more than ten thousand, depending on the cutoff. This week Secretary Rubio announced visa limits on people who enact race discrimination, incite violence or enable expropriation without compensation. The stated reason: Pretoria has not dealt with rural crime, dehumanizing rhetoric and race policies aimed at Afrikaners and other minorities.

Pretoria denies a “white genocide” and calls the land law a historical correction. A border is a distinction. People who come to work, keep the law and do not treat taxes as a ticket are not the same as people who treat welfare as a fare. President Trump shut the door on the unlawful surge and left a narrow gate for a South African minority. That turns asylum from a slogan back into a screening. Bartlett’s clip is a smile and a field. Its weight is this: he is not asking America to become South Africa. He is saying that off a land that punished him for his color, a man can still farm.

Only if real persecution is kept apart from a fake quota does a country still hold. Welcoming people who work is not the same as admitting everyone who claims the word refugee. The President forwarded the clip to answer the title: how they are doing is for those who came to say.
