Leavitt drew the contrast in hard lines. One side: secure borders, support for police, what she called the largest middle-class tax cuts in history. The other: a country that no longer recognizes itself. The chyron read: A tale of two parties — GOP offers hope, Dems offer a radical agenda. She noted DSA-backed candidates have begun winning Democratic primaries. The graphic listed DSA plans: amnesty for illegal immigrants, abolish the border and ICE, end cash bail, a wealth tax, a Green New Deal, abolish prisons and police.

Leavitt put the argument at the ballot box. The books are already out — income, the official poverty rate, a farm bill out of committee — in the same week. Lose Congress and investigations will try to shred those books. DSA candidates advancing in primaries is not a mood. It is a list: border, police, taxes, prisons, written in their own hand.
