At 6:41 a.m. PDT on October 2, Eric Daugherty posted on X with a clip of about two and a half minutes. He said Secretary of War Pete Hegseth ordered a one-day stand-down across the military in October, so every service member can vote.

Hegseth’s own lines, as quoted: “Every warrior will be given the opportunity to vote.” “This year, we’ll execute the stand-down no later than October 15th.” “Now, we’re not telling you who to vote for. But we will give you every opportunity to do so.” Every commander and supervisor at every level has to carry it out.

Hegseth said last week that 300,000 troops were not registered to vote in 2024, and he told commanders to get them registered and to the ballot. Daugherty added his own line: Democrats will hate this. That is his spin. The order itself does not name a candidate.

Tianwang reported the first half of this line on September 26: Hegseth told the troops to register and vote, and commanders do not name the candidate. This order adds the date and the method: one stand-down day, no later than October 15. Troops do not pick the election calendar or their duty station. A day set aside to register and vote, with no pressure on who they pick, is the point of the order.
