On the morning of October 3, President Trump posted on Truth Social and named Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas, a friend. Cotton, he wrote, is holding up a very important bill: the Sunshine Protection Act, or the “We Don’t Want to Change Our Clocks Twice a Year Act.” “For some reason, Tom is stopping the Bill and, in the Senate, it’s very easy to do, it only takes one!” He said it should pass overwhelmingly, in a bipartisan way. “So, everyone in Arkansas, a State I love, and won 3 times, the last by 34 points, tell Tom to, GET IT DONE!”

A later post the same morning put Arkansas first in his own words. “If Tom Cotton were putting Arkansas first, he would give them an extra hour of daylight and, more importantly, they wouldn’t have to run all over their houses, farms, work places, and everywhere else, twice a year, having to change their Clocks, and often forgetting to do so.” That, he wrote, is really putting Arkansas first. He said he won that state three times, by almost 40 points, and that passing it would be a very nice and easy win for the Republican Party.
