On October 21, 2026, Attorney General Todd Blanche announced that Elon Musk and the X platform are working with the Trump Department of Justice to go after foreign scammers who steal money from Americans. The DOJ’s Scam Center Strike Force has now restrained about $938 million in scam funds.

In September, the Strike Force restrained $52 million in a single day when it took down the Chinese-run Xinbi marketplace, a Telegram-based platform that sold tools and services to scam operations, including fake investment websites and money-laundering services. The Treasury Department also sanctioned Xinbi. Officials said the marketplace had processed more than $24 billion since around 2022.

The Scam Center Strike Force was set up to target Chinese-organized scam centers operating mainly in Southeast Asia that run cyber-enabled fraud against Americans. Private companies, including SpaceX, have previously taken part in related disruption efforts. Blanche’s announcement indicates that X is now cooperating with the DOJ on identifying and disrupting these networks.
