He said the Department of War under President Trump and Secretary Pete Hegseth is preparing every major U.S. military base in the homeland to operate at least 90 days completely off the civilian grid in the event of war.

Under the Pentagon’s new “FORTRESS” plan, continental U.S. installations will be equipped with portable nuclear microreactors, battery storage, and independent water, fuel, and communications systems. There are also plans to convert civilian factories to wartime defense production.

The report quoted: “Power is combat now. Without electricity, you lose communications, water, logistics, assembly lines and just basic military command structures.” Hegseth recently confirmed that the United States must ensure its installations can operate independently.

This capability itself is deterrence.
