On the afternoon of September 8, after speaking at the Tunnel to Towers 25th-anniversary event on the Ellipse, President Trump posted a long Truth Social note plus archival video and stills. He named New York magazine and New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman. He said he went downtown to the Trade Center after Sept. 11 — not on the day the towers fell, but as soon as the law allowed, with construction workers. The pictures, he said, settle it.

New York magazine published a piece the same day saying nobody saw him at the site. The president answered: he would not have been the first person on anyone’s mind in that wreckage; he was there; his then head of security, Matthew Calamari, has confirmed the trip to journalists many times. He demanded a retraction.

The second line is this year’s 25th anniversary. Haberman’s reporting, as he described it, said he skipped the New York official ceremony because he was not allowed to speak and went to the Pentagon instead. He wrote that politicians do not deliver speeches at the official World Trade Center remembrance; he has attended; nobody speaks; the strong request this year was that he be at the Pentagon, with Vice President Vance representing the administration in New York. He demanded her sources and a retraction.

Tianwang’s view: He was not in the rubble on the morning the towers fell. He wrote that himself. Two days later he stood in front of a national camera downtown, NBC bugs on the screen, the building across the street still groaning, workers and a firefighter in the frame. That is tape. To write “nobody saw him” as fact is to treat the tape as if it never ran. To write this year’s Pentagon visit as a snub because he was barred from speaking requires the ceremony rules and the schedule, not a mood. A memorial can be quiet. A false report cannot. The president put the old interview and the photographs out in public. That is argument by evidence.
