At 10:33 a.m. Pacific Time on September 14 (1:33 p.m. Eastern), President Trump posted on Truth Social that “AI taking over the world and destroying humanity” is a hoax. He named Google’s plan for a massive plant in Finland because permitting in the United States is too hard. He is not happy, he wrote, and wants them to change their thinking.

He asked when, in the history of business, industry leaders called for rules that, if enforced, would bankrupt them. He classed “AI doomsday” with Russia, Ukraine, and the two impeachments — hoaxes used by destructionists against America.

Finnish press the same day put Google’s Finland data-center plan near €13 billion. Reuters quoted other Trump posts: America already has criminal and regulatory power over the companies; there is a “sick conspiracy” against AI and data centers, and only China is glad. The backdrop is Silicon Valley resignations claiming AI could kill everyone this decade, and calls to slow research. China’s Foreign Ministry said U.S. “fearmongering, confrontation and vicious competition” would only disrupt global AI governance. Trump shortened Beijing’s line to “will not block AI.” The wording differs; the direction matches: China will not tap the brakes with Washington.

好的科技是在造福人类，是在促进、加速现代文明，不是拿来吓人、把工厂吓出国门的道具。电灯、铁路、互联网都曾被说成灾祸；真把人从贫困和封闭里拉出来的，是建起来的那一座座设施，不是讲台上的末日形容词。
Good technology serves humanity. It speeds modern civilization. It is not a prop for panic that drives plants out of the country. Electric light, railroads and the internet were all called disasters. What pulled people out of poverty and isolation was the facilities that got built — not the doomsday adjectives on a podium.
AI会有风险，美国已有刑法和监管去管犯罪、管滥用。把“可能灭世”做成全国急刹车，等于把算力、电厂和数据中心让给不肯停的对手。谷歌去芬兰，是许可太慢的成绩单，不是进步。川普总统把话说死：数据中心要留在美国，引擎比石油和互联网还大，任内不许破坏派把它拆掉。能辨“管犯罪”和“管死行业”，才谈得上文明往前走，而不是自己先把灯关掉。
AI has risks. America already has criminal law and regulators for crime and abuse. Turning “it might end the world” into a national emergency brake hands compute, power plants and data centers to a rival that will not stop. Google’s move toward Finland is a report card on slow permits, not progress. President Trump said it plainly: keep the centers here; the engine is bigger than oil or the internet; destructive forces will not tear it down on his watch. Only if “punish crime” is kept apart from “kill the industry” does civilization move forward — instead of switching off its own lights.
