Two posts from commentator Eric Daugherty this morning sit on the same White House day. One is the review. One is the press line.

1. The Silent Drill, over the new pad
一、默操排，对着新机坪
At about 7:59 a.m. Pacific Time, Daugherty posted a 45-second clip: President Trump and Xi Jinping watched the Marine Silent Drill Platoon from the White House. Their line of sight ran over the new helipad, which Trump has already used more than once.
美西时间约7时59分，多尔蒂发出约45秒画面：川普总统与习近平在白宫观看陆战队默操排检阅。视线对着新直升机坪——川普总统已经用过多次。
Daugherty wrote that the White House had needed that pad for years, and that Trump was glad to show it. His close: America is back.
多尔蒂写道：白宫缺这块停机坪缺了好多年；川普总统很乐意亮给习近平看。结语：美国回来了。
This is the scheduled Rose Garden review. It comes after the South Lawn greeting and the remarks that put American farmers first, then security, technology and superintelligence. It is not a signed deal. It is the country putting its own house in order in front of a guest.
这是日程里的玫瑰园检阅。接在南草坪迎接和讲话之后——那次讲话把美国农民放在第一句，再谈安全、技术、超级智能。这不是已签的协议。这是把自家院子收拾好，再给客人看。

2. The press line, before the car arrived
二、采访线，车还没到
At about 8:05 a.m., Daugherty posted an update with two short videos. Before Xi reached the White House, Chinese reporters got into a brief confrontation with the U.S. Secret Service and American reporters — shoving for position, or refusing to move.
约8时05分，多尔蒂再发更新，两条短视频。习近平还没到白宫，中方记者已与美国特勤、美国记者发生短暂冲突——往机位上挤，或占着位置不让。
Daugherty added: the Chinese press had already been aggressive toward American reporters in Beijing; the Secret Service ended it; America allows enough press freedom that some Chinese reporters act as if they can do as they please on U.S. soil; and the left will still say Trump is crushing the First Amendment.
多尔蒂补了三句：中方记者在北京时对美国记者已经很冲；最后是特勤把场面压住；美国给的采访自由太大，有人以为在美国土地上可以想怎么挤就怎么挤；左派还会说川普总统在打压第一修正案。
No names of outlets were given in the post. No injury was reported. The fact on the tape is order on the rope line, not a treaty.
帖中没有点名哪家中方媒体。没有报道受伤。片子上能核对的，是警戒线秩序，不是条约。

In Beijing, this site’s editor saw Chinese police more than once tear at foreign reporters outside courts and other sensitive sites. Microphones taken. People pulled away. That was not order. That was a sealed mouth.

Today, on the White House rope line, Chinese reporters shoved Secret Service and American colleagues. Same logic, different ground: lock others out in Beijing, grab the spot in Washington.
今天白宫警戒线上，中方记者去挤特勤、挤美国同行。同一套逻辑换了场地：在北京封别人，在华盛顿抢位子。
The drill and the pad say the same thing as the first sentence this morning: this house has a host. The press line says the guest’s cameras do not write the rules. America is back is not a slogan over empty grass. It is a pad that works, a platoon that does not speak, and a line that does not yield because someone shoved.
默操排和新机坪，跟今早第一句话是一件事：这栋房子有主人。采访线说的是：客人的镜头不能改规矩。美国回来了，不是空草坪上的口号。是机坪能用，是队伍不开口，是有人挤也不能把线挤开。
