At about 7:09 a.m. Pacific Time on September 24, the White House rapid-response account posted a 33-second clip: President Trump and Melania Trump met Xi Jinping and Peng Liyuan on the South Lawn red carpet. Xi stepped from the car. They shook hands. Peng followed. The four walked to the White House door and stood for photographs while Marines saluted.

At about 7:21 a.m., commentator Eric Daugherty posted that Trump and Xi had walked out inside the White House to deliver remarks. Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and other Cabinet members were in the room. The state dinner is tonight.

At about 7:38 a.m., reporter Nick Sortor posted about 75 seconds of the speech. Trump stood at the presidential lectern. The Stars and Stripes and the Chinese flag were behind him. Melania sat to his left. Xi sat to his right.

He put superintelligence and security on the same table to tell Beijing: factories, chips and sea lanes are not free gifts. Protocol is protocol. The real test remains: what is signed, what is not; whether Huang Qi is still in Bazhong; whether the sea border is still watched. A win that fills orders and loses freedom is not a win.
