On October 17–18, 2026, protests over rising living costs, fuel prices, and public services took place across France. The Interior Ministry reported about 550,000 participants. Most marches were peaceful, but violence broke out on the fringes.

Hooded groups smashed windows, looted shops, set fires, and clashed with riot police. A historic town hall in Limoges was set on fire, with part of the roof collapsing. The tourist office in Lyon was burned. Shops were looted and cars set alight in Paris, Marseille, and other cities. Police used tear gas and water cannons. Authorities reported roughly 1,200 to over 1,800 arrests nationwide and more than 150 police officers injured. Similar protests in Milan also escalated into window-smashing, looting, and clashes.

Brivael Le Pogam cited polls showing majority French support for stricter immigration controls and recalled the 2005 referendum. MAGA Voice said that without X, Americans would not know what is happening and warned that “this is coming to America.”
