美国总统唐纳德·川普今天在白宫椭圆形办公室签署行政命令，将五大湖之一的安大略湖（Lake Ontario）改名为“美国湖”（Lake America），并在Truth Social发布现场视频及美国地质调查局（USGS）正式改名备忘录。
U.S. President Donald J. Trump today signed an executive order in the Oval Office renaming the Great Lake known as Lake Ontario as “Lake America”, and posted both a signing video and an official U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) memo on Truth Social.
川普总统在视频中手持五大湖地图，表示这项改名“立即生效”，并说：“只需要一支好笔和一点智慧。”白宫官方账号同步发布视频，画面标题为 “LAKE ONTARIO → LAKE AMERICA”。川普还说：“仔细想想，我们已经有了海湾，也有了湖。现在只差一片大洋。”
President Trump held a map of the Great Lakes in the video and said the change is “effective immediately,” adding that “all it takes is a good pen and some intelligence.” The White House official account posted the same video with the banner “LAKE ONTARIO → LAKE AMERICA.” Trump also said: “If you think about it, we have a gulf and we have a lake. Now, all we need is an ocean.”

随后，川普总统转发美国地质调查局局长致内政部的备忘录。备忘录写道：
截至今天下午4:30，美国地质调查局已正式指定：原安大略湖在所有官方USGS电子文件中更名为Lake America（美国湖）。纸质文件将在未来数日内陆续更新，该变更也已同步进入地理名称信息系统（GNIS）。
The USGS memo later posted by President Trump stated that as of 4:30 p.m. today, the agency has officially designated the former Lake Ontario as Lake America in all official USGS electronic documents. Printed documents will be updated over the next several days, and the change has also been entered into the Geographic Names Information System (GNIS).

改名原因
白宫将此次更名表述为：纪念五大湖对美国历史与经济的贡献，并延续2025年把墨西哥湾改名为“美国湾”（Gulf of America）的做法，让边境水域名称体现美国。
更直接的背景是美加贸易争端升级。上周谈判破裂后，美方对约200亿美元加拿大商品加征50%关税，加拿大准备对等反制。川普近日多次在社媒上威胁改湖名，并表示以后与安大略省“不会再有太多生意”。安大略湖约一半水面位于加拿大一侧，又与加拿大安大略省同名，因此此次更名具有明显的政治象征意义。
历史上，强盛国家常通过官方地图与地名来宣示主导地位。此次更名虽不改变实际疆界，但在气势上被川普政府视为重振美国影响力、推动“让美国再次伟大”的象征动作。
Why the rename
The White House framed the move as honoring the Great Lakes’ role in American history and the economy, and as a continuation of the 2025 decision to rename the Gulf of Mexico the “Gulf of America.”
The more immediate backdrop is the escalating U.S.–Canada trade dispute. After talks collapsed last week, Washington imposed 50% tariffs on about $20 billion in Canadian goods, and Canada prepared reciprocal measures. President Trump had repeatedly threatened on social media to rename the lake and said the United States would no longer be “doing much business with Ontario.” About half of the lake lies on the Canadian side and shares its name with the Canadian province of Ontario, giving the rename a clear political symbolism.
Throughout history, rising powers have often used official maps and place names to assert primacy. While this rename does not change actual borders, the Trump administration presents it as a symbolic show of strength to restore American influence and advance “Make America Great Again.”
根据白宫行政命令，内政部长需在30天内会同美国地名委员会完成联邦层面更名，并要求联邦机构在地图、合同、文件和对外沟通中使用Lake America。
该命令约束的是美国联邦政府内部用法。加拿大总理及纽约州州长已表示不会采用新名称。“Ontario”一词本身来自原住民语，大约意为“闪亮的大湖”，17世纪欧洲地图即已使用。
Under the executive order, the Interior Secretary has 30 days to complete the federal rename with the Board on Geographic Names, and federal agencies are directed to use Lake America in maps, contracts, documents, and communications.
The order applies to U.S. federal usage. Canada’s prime minister and New York’s governor have said they will not adopt the new name. The word “Ontario” itself comes from an Indigenous term often rendered as “great lake” or “lake of shining waters,” and appeared on European maps as early as the 17th century.
